When people hear Stevie’s story, they often ask, “What can I do?” or “How can I help?”
We’re touched that people want to help us, and we’re fortunate enough to not need any immediate financial assistance.
Instead, we’d like to ask those who want to support us to do something for their community or for the benefit of maternal/infant health on Stevie’s behalf. This could be a day spent volunteering, a donation to a local organization that you care about, or even a random act of kindness in the spirit of our strong, sweet girl. If you’d like a little more direction, we have some suggestions below.
Once you’ve completed your “Stevie Support” action, we’d love to hear about what you did (feel free to include photos!) in an email to histevie@grievingstevie.com. We’ll compile these and read them together every year on Stevie’s birthday (May 8) to celebrate the good that she’s brought into this world.
Example “Stevie Support” actions:
- Give blood. Give platelets. Give all of these things, because kids like Stevie always, always need it.
- Volunteer at a local children’s hospital as a greeter, helper, or through the Ronald McDonald House Charities Bay Area (or your local chapter)
- Support maternal and baby health through organizations such as March of Dimes or your local Planned Parenthood
- Write thank-you notes to your local nurses, teachers, or other supportive professions
- Donate to one of the organizations listed on our “Other links and resources” page. They have all helped us and others immensely through the grieving process.
