She lived 67 days. She was a great, great girl.
We hadn’t planned to post about her on social media—let alone make her a website—but one of the many things we’ve learned recently is that plans can go to shit.
We’re doing this now because from the outside, our life looks largely the same. But it’s not. And we look largely the same. But we’re not. We’re sadder, stronger, and filled with more love than we had ever imagined.
This is because we believe that grief is love.
Stevie got very sick, very fast. If this ever happens to a kid you know, and you want someone to talk to, we hope you’ll reach out. It doesn’t matter how well we know each other, if at all. This type of experience can be very isolating, but there’s no getting through it alone. It’s just one of the many ways we hope to carry her with us through our lifetime.
We have been deeply moved by all the kindness and support that we’ve received throughout her ICU stay and in the time since her passing. Stevie revealed how vast and loving a community we truly have, and for that, we’ll always be grateful.
We’ll love you forever, Stevie girl.
